Community Library

SUNDESH established its first set of Community Libraries in 2012 in village Naraina, Chauna, Nandpur and Siwaya, with the support of NABARD. These libraries were set up to give local youth access to education material to prepare for government competitive exams. The competitive books and furniture were donated by SUNDESH.

Village Youth Clubs were made responsible for smooth operation of the library. They have since developed terms & condition for beneficiaries and formed a committee for record keeping, takeover and handover of books and other work.

Even after NABARD’s exit from this project, SUNDESH continues to support this initiative and is even promoting group study through the community library. In all, 834 local youth have benefited from these five community libraries with 20 of them gaining employment in government jobs.
