Food Preservation

SUNDESH offers Food Preservation Training to rural women in Ghaziabad by organising them into groups and providing adequate support. They are also encouraged to start their own income generation activity with this training, which focuses on teaching the techniques of preparing ready-to-serve beverages, pickles, squash, jam, papad, etc. These are prepared using different fruits and vegetables grown locally, or with seasonal fruits like mango, apple, litchi, tomato, and plum.

This exposure has helped boost the self-confidence in rural women, leading them to establish a Self-Help Group (SHG) to earn additional income. This initiative has also helped reduce post-harvest losses as the fruits are now converted into value-added products.
