Chairperson

Indira Burman

Indira Burman is a philanthropist and social worker working in the areas of healthcare, women empowerment, and primary & secondary education. Over her years of communal service, she has worked to uplift India’s most economically underprivileged societies.

Some of her initiatives include setting up Som Dutt Clinics in Shakarpur, New Delhi, rehabilitation of Sundarbans Mangroves and promoting menstrual hygiene among women in rural India.

ashok bahl

Ashok Bahl

A successful businessman, Ashok Bahl graduated in History Honors from St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi. He has been involved in social work for over three decades, having helped set up the Round Table 5 School at Mahipalpur for the family of porters at Palam Airport. He has also helped organise blood donation camps with the Red Cross Society. Ashok is the Secretary of Prem Chikitsa Kendra at R. K. Puram, New Delhi, which runs a highly subsidized dispensary-cum-hospital for the neighbourhood. He has been associated with Sundesh almost since its inception. The cutting and tailoring unit was started on his advice. Ashok is the Honorary Treasurer of Sundesh.


Dr. Gautam Vohra

Dr. Gautam Vohra is currently the Chairperson of Credibility Alliance, a consortium of 550 NGOs located throughout the country. He was educated at the Doon School and King’s College London University. He acquired a PhD with his study on the changing profile of the Indian political elite.

Dr. Gautam joined the Times of India in 1970 as an editorial writer (Assistant Editor). Dr. Gautam left journalism as Editor of Sunday Times in 1985 to undertake field studies on behalf of private foundations like the Aga Khan Foundation, Hinduja Foundation, Oxfam America and CASP-Plan International. He also undertook assignments for government agencies such as the National Wasteland Development Board of the Ministry of Environment and Forests and the Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART), Ministry of Rural Development. Many of these studies have been published as books; the one published by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences became a textbook.

Partho Ganguly

Partho is the Senior General Manager-HR at Dabur India Ltd, handling the Human Resource Management function for Dabur’s India and SAARC operations. A performance driven, versatile HR professional, he has nearly three decades of experience in strategic HR and HR operations across sectors as diverse as chemicals, paints, consumer durables, FMCG and pharmaceuticals.

Partho has been associated with Dabur for over eight years and has also been associated with Dabur’s CSR arm Sundesh as Secretary for about eight years, where he has been personally involved in the various community development initiatives towards skilling youth and promoting livelihood. He has also actively participated in health care, hygiene and education improvement initiatives in rural India though organizations like Ramakrishna Mission and Round Table organization. Ganguly holds a post-graduate degree in economics and an MBA in HR.


Pradip Burman (Emeritus Chairman)

The great-grandson of Dabur India Ltd’s founder Dr S.K Burman, Mr. Pradip Burman is one of the founders of Sustainable Development Society (SUNDESH).

A visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mr Burman has been working in the areas of Education, Women Empowerment and Environment Sustainability, and campaigning for social changes since a young age. He has been instrumental in rolling out various programmes aimed at improving the livelihood of the poor in India.

A Sudhakar

Sudhakar is the Global Human Capital and CSR Head at Dabur India Ltd. With nearly four decades of experience in the Human Resources Management and the Development sectors, Sudhakar’s expertise lies in aligning the company’s social commitments with its business plans.

In his current role, Sudhakar oversees the HR function in the overseas entities of Dabur, spanning continents of Asia, Europe and Americas, where Dabur has established a presence both in manufacturing and marketing of its products. He is part of the Management Committee (ManCom) of the company. Sudhakar is also responsible for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of Dabur India Ltd. Sudhakar has been with Dabur for over 14 years.

He has done his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Delhi School of Social Work, Delhi University. Besides, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Law and is a Certified ICC International Coach, accredited by international Coaching Community. He is also a member of CII’s Committees on Affirmative Action and Corporate Social Responsibility.


Shiromani Vijay

Shiromani Vijay is an independent philanthropy professional who has been engaged with several development sector projects and initiatives. A graduate from the Indian Institute of technology, madras, Shiromani was invited to join the Sundesh Executive Council in 2007. She had already been associated with other NGOs. She has been regularly visiting various sites where Sundesh is active. She has attempted to implement projects like Education in remote villages, and sought to develop market linkages of tailoring talents with commercial establishments.

She was promoted to super time scale in 2004 and has held posts like Secretary, Public Works Department, UP government, Secretary, Dairy Development and Secretary, Family Welfare. She retired from service in 2006 and has been involved with social work thereon.
