Tree Plantation

Tree plantation has been one of the major initiatives undertaken by SUNDESH. In the recent years, SUNDESH has been focusing on up-scale, target specific projects like poplar, herbal and fruit tree plantations. The initiative has not only helped improve the green cover in villages but also benefited farmers financially.

Fruit Tree plantations were not new to Sundesh but it extended the activity to the villages of Ghaziabad for two reasons: first, to guide and support farmers with an alternate source of income, and second, to help them recognize the nutritional benefits of different fruits and encourage them to include fresh fruits in their diet, which would also help reduce malnutrition among children.

Fruit Trees

Fruit Tree plantations were not new to Sundesh but it extended the activity to the villages of Ghaziabad for two reasons: first, to guide and support farmers with an alternate source of income, and second, to help them recognize the nutritional benefits of different fruits and encourage them to include fresh fruits in their diet, which would also help reduce malnutrition among children.

Through the help of SHGs and farmers’ clubs, Sundesh conducted meetings in villages and spread the message regarding the distribution of tree saplings and the benefits of planting them. The requirements of

the cultivators were noted by SHGs and farmers’ clubs and were accordingly given information and saplings. The best variety of Popular and fruit trees were provided to the farmers on a contributory basis with 50% financial contribution by Sundesh and the rest by the farmer. So far about 12,000 Poplar trees have been planted in the Ghaziabad region. As many as 781 fruit tree saplings of Mango, Jackfruit, Litchi, Guava, Lemon, Pomegranate and Jamun, have been distributed to 120 farmers in Ghaziabad.

Recently, families in Sidipur, Karanpurjatt, Chauna, Nidhawali, Nagla Udairampur, Shaulana, Dhaulana, Domatikri, Siwaya and Narayanpur villages planted over 2,500 fruit tree and shadow tree sampling.
