Dr Gautam Vohra currently serves as the Chairperson of Credibility Alliance, a consortium of 550 NGOs located across the country. Alumnus of the prestigious Doon School and King’s College, London University, he holds a PhD degree acquired through his study on the changing profile of the Indian political elite.
Dr Gautam started his professional journey at the Times of India in 1970 as an editorial writer (Assistant Editor). His journalistic career culminated as the Editor of Sunday Times in 1985. Subsequently, he transitioned to field studies, representing esteemed private foundations such as the Aga Khan Foundation, Hinduja Foundation, Oxfam America and CASP-Plan International.
He also undertook assignments for government agencies, including the National Wasteland Development Board of the Ministry of Environment and Forests and the Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART), Ministry of Rural Development. Many of his insightful studies have been published as books, with one publication by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences becoming a widely used textbook.
