Mr. Pradip Burman, the great-grandson of Dabur India Limited’s founder Dr SK Burman, is one of the distinguished founders of the Sustainable Development Society (SUNDESH).
As a visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mr Burman has worked extensively to create a positive impact in the realms of education, women empowerment and environment sustainability use better language from a young age. Mr Pradip Burman has been a driving force behind the rollout of various programs aimed at uplifting the livelihoods of the less privileged in India.
He has been instrumental in propelling numerous health, family and development projects in rural India through SUNDESH, long before the framing of CSR rules in the country. His visionary inputs continue to shape and elevate these projects. Originating from a small setup in rural Uttar Pradesh, Mr Burman’s efforts have helped expand SUNDESH’s footprint into Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
In 2015, he founded the non-profit organization Mobius Foundation, dedicated to achieving environmental sustainability. Mr Burman is also a Trustee of the Climate Reality Project – India, affiliated with Mr. Al Gore of the Climate Reality Project Foundation, USA.
He has served as the Chairman of the governing body (August 1986 – June 1999) at PHDCCI-Rural Development Foundation, Delhi, a non-profit organization focused on socio-economic activities in rural areas. Transitioning from a corporate career spanning several decades, Mr Pradip Burman is now giving back to the society by devoting his time and expertise to the causes of rural development and environment sustainability and nurturing the various charities and development organizations he has established in India.
A graduate in mechanical engineering from MIT, USA (1965), Mr Pradip Burman’s interests include ecology, environment, music and a passion for reading.
